Alvarez Yairi is trying to make the best guitar that is physically possible, and this is a prime example of what a modern guitar can be. It is articulate, boomy, clean, and present.
The Alvarez-Yairi "Reserve" instruments are meant to be unique pieces, made in incredibly small run one-off batches of instruments using the rarest and most special pieces of wood found in the K. Yairi tone wood collection. Each batch only has as many guitars in it as the unique wood will allow.
This guitar is built with a specially selected and graded German Spruce top and Kahida back and sides. Kahida is an Indigenous tree species in Japan, and this particular set of guitars has some of the most beautifully figured Kahida the factory had ever seen.

This FYM88 OM is an incredibly balanced guitar with a rich, powerful voice for its size. The OM body shape is made with such great tonewood that it delivers near-perfect balance and immediate response. Warm but clear at the same time. This instrument has quickly become a favorite of everyone in the shop. We'll be sad to see it go, but it will give someone a lifetime of joy playing it.
The guitar itself is very light in weight due to the wood quality and thin finish; you feel it resonating as it instantly responds to your requests. Its projection is open, and its volume is excellent. As a Yairi, its intonation is incredible, and the guitar's all-around spec is of the highest level, with the amazing Gotoh 510 tuners, ebony bridge, fingerboard, and headstock veneer.
